About The Seven Tools

The Seven Tools are simple. They are timeless. You might even find them familiar. What’s unique about The Seven Tools is how they fit together into a gentle yet powerful practice that you can use to create lasting change in your life. Our classes teach you how to use them to unlock patterns that have been blocking you for years.

The genius of the Seven Tools happens when you learn to communicate with your own inner wisdom and follow its advice to examine and compassionately change your life challenges. If you sincerely practice what we teach in our classes, you will have tools you can use for the rest of your life to effect radical, positive change in yourself.

Our company is comprised of a physician (Steven, M. Hall, MD), a psychotherapist (Grace Porter, MA), and a business woman (Patti Pitcher).

About Steven M. Hall MD

Hi, I’m Dr. Steve Hall. I started out my medical career in 1985 as a residency trained, board certified family practitioner. For all these years, it’s been my sincere passion to help people heal. I am looking to do more than diminish symptoms (though that is nice too). I work to help my patients genuinely heal by returning to their optimal state of health and wholeness.

I love encouraging people as they discover the root cause of their difficulties and help them transform their lives on that level so the rest of their life can fall into place too. You have NO idea how exciting this is to watch.

I have had over 30 years to watch my patients heal, sometimes even impossible things. They showed me that healing is a process; a deep transformational process, not a quick fix. Healing is a practice that follows the same seven steps. That’s why I named this work The Seven Tools of Healing.

Using these seven tools my patients and I work together to heal their chronic illness, emotional problems, relationships, childhood traumas, job problems, addictions etc. etc. This ability to heal anything is one of the most amazing things I have learned working with the tools. If you can name it, you can heal it, and if you can’t heal it (like you lost your arm in a tractor accident), you can heal your relationship with it and that can be just as good.

Knowing how powerful The Seven Tools are, I have longed to bring this work to a larger audience than one-on-one in the office. I wish everyone could know how to use these tools because what I know, deep in my heart, is that anyone who wants to do the work can use these tools and begin to heal their life. How exciting is that?

I began teaching classes in my community over a decade ago. This was fabulous but I wanted more people to experience the power of The Seven Tools. That’s why I decided to start teaching courses through this website. I know how much this work will help you if you let it. And I want nothing more than to help you heal.

About Grace Porter, MA

Hi, I’m Grace Porter, LMHC, LCPC. I am an instructor with The 7 Tools of Healing, a Psychotherapist, and Dr. Hall’s middle daughter. I know the power of The 7 Tools of Healing both from using them in my own life and from helping my students and clients integrate them into their lives. I know that they can be a path to reconnecting to your authentic self, to clearing away the limiting beliefs that keep you stuck, and to leading a life that feels pleasing to your mind, body, and soul.

Why I love The 7 Tools

Often, when I first meet people who are interested in learning The 7 Tools, they are feeling

  • stuck,
  • overwhelmed,
  • undeserving,
  • or worn out from trying to maintain something that isn’t working for them.

I love teaching The 7 Tools because over the course of the course (pun intended…I got my father’s sense of humor, what can I say…) I see people

  • relaxing into themselves,
  • finding more gentleness in their lives,
  • tapping into deep reservoirs of courage,
  • and creating deep and lasting change in their lives (and so much more but I can only say so much here).

The words they use to talk about themselves and their experiences change. Suffice to say, I literally witness the change in their lives when they practice the Tools.

The 7 Tools and Me: A brief history

I have been hearing about The 7 Tools since childhood. I first took our Taming the Bear: Taking the Bite out of Stress class in 2006 and I continue to practice them in my own life because, well, they work for me. Additionally, I have been using The 7 Tools in my psychotherapy practice since 2009 and have been formally teaching them since 2015.

The Nitty Gritty

As for other nitty gritty details about me, I have a Masters in Counseling, with an Emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, I am a Certified Facilitator of The Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra (a wonderful sleep based meditation technique), and most recently, I am a Level I Reiki Practitioner. I have a largely online private psychotherapy practice seeing residents of Washington and Maryland where I specialize in treating care givers, over givers, and people transitioning into adulthood (I am licensed as a counselor in both states). I love to garden and live in Olympia with my husband, baby boy, chickens, goats, and the cat of all cats.
